ShowStoppers featured on She Steals! Do not miss this wonderful opportunity! http://shesteals.stealnetwork.com/ XOXO
Gabby Douglas is our ShowStopper of the week! She made history on August 2nd by becoming the first African-American to win the all-around Olympic gold. Douglas was also the first American to win both the all-around and team events at the same Olympics and only the fourth American woman to win the all-around title. At age 3, she did her first cartwheel and now, the 16 year old has earned two gold Olympic medals. We can’t wait to watch her compete in two more event finals, uneven bars and balance beam.
Ladies, the day you have been anxiously waiting for has arrived! Welcome to Dating Shannon-igans’ first-ever Bachelorette-PB setup! While I am so excited to be including a matchmaking feature in the blog, today is particularly thrilling for me. Today, I am featuring a dear friend, confidante, support system and, all around, one of the most standup guys I have the pleasure of knowing.
Based out of San Francisco, Luke is a go-getter in his truest form. As the eldest of two boys, Luke, 28, has a strong focus on his professional career. An entrepreneur at heart, while working at a consulting firm out of college, Luke also founded and ran a clothing line called 209F. His business venture lead him to receive an MBA from UT Austin, and then capture a most impressive position at a San Francisco start-up. His ultimate goal is to start and grow his own company.
Although remarkable in his ambition, Luke loves to have fun too! While our Luke is a city man now, he grew up on a farm where he developed a love for the great outdoors. In his free time, Luke enjoys running, world-class travelling, and grabbing drinks in the sunshine. When the sun goes down, Luke enjoys the company of a cute girl when he explores new restaurants or cooks dinner at home. Ladies…don’t tell Luke that I told you, but he’s also a Bachelor fan!
Luke has worked hard to acquire a life equilibrium that most eligible men are still struggling to find. While he may look serious, he’s quick to crack a joke or make fun of himself. He’s also an incredible listener (trust me on this one) and I have never, ever failed to have a great time when I am with him.
If you are interested in going on a date with Luke, please e-mail email@example.com. Please be sure to send a brief paragraph explaining why you are the best CW for Luke and a photo (for my eyes only).
The very best of luck!
“When I became a mom, I finally became the person I am, that I always should have been. It’s the most satisfying job in the world. But, it can also be overwhelming and confusing. I created The Honest Company to help moms and to give all children a better, safer start.” -Jessica Alba
It is no secret that Jessica Alba is a devoted mother. Alba’s experiences as a mother inspired the creation of The Honest Company, a line of baby supplies and household cleaning products that are effective, non-toxic and environmentally friendly. This company has made the search for natural baby products hassle free.
Alba is a mother of two young girls, Honor and Haven. The Golden Globe-nominated actress understands the chaos and struggles that all mothers endure. She has developed a one-stop-shop that includes shampoo, conditioner, lotion, diapers, wipes and so much more. Our sources tell us that Alba is incredible to work with and an extremely active founder. We are proud to Honor Jessica Alba as our Womentrepreneur of the week and commend her on her passion for motherhood!
There is no escaping the tummy trend that we are seeing everywhere! Crop tops were popping up on all the runways this Spring. Coachella 2012 gave us a real taste of how this look is ab-solutely taking off.
Different from the midriff-baring tops of the ‘90s, these crop tops are worn loosely and often with high-waisted bottoms. This look accentuates a slim waist and can show as much or as little of the stomach as desired.
Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the first to bare her midriff in one of Emilio Pucci’s designs at the 2011 Emmy Awards in September. She shows how to pull off this look at a more formal event. Selena Gomez shows much more skin in this Express crochet crop top that she paired with gray skinny jeans. Diane Kruger looked stunning and kept it sophisticated in a striped Lucca Couture crop top and Hugo Boss pants at the screening of Farewell, My Queen. Rihanna really showed off her abs at Coachella in that Top Shop crop top. She added a Chanel jacket over her shoulders to add her own style to the popular look.
Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Amahlia Stevens, Balmain, Fifty Shades of Grey, Isabel Marant, Joan Juliet Buck, Karlie Kloss, London 2012 Olympics, Luli Fama, Mara Hoffman, Marc New York, Miami, Nike, Paige Railey, Ralph Lauren, ShowStoppers, ShowStoppers Fashion Tape, ShowStoppers Weekly, Target, Vogue
Karlie Kloss will represent the Target + Neiman Marcus line, a limited-edition collection designed by 24 members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The highly sought-after model is a huge score for Target, as they seldom obtain runway models for their campaigns. The collection is expected to be available December 1st, but we will see Kloss’s campaign much earlier in an effort to drive excitement prior to the winter launch.
Miami was swimming in top designers from around the world to reveal their swimwear and resort collections for Cruise ’13. Anchor events included the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, the trade show floor at Salon Allure and the Miami Swim Show and Lingerie Show. Some of the hottest new looks were from Luli Fama, Amahlia Stevens and Mara Hoffman Swim.
Alexander McQueen has released a new campaign video that has a trippy ‘80s vibe. The label was fortunate enough to secure David Sims as the director. He is known for work with Balmain, Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant. Click here to watch the Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2012 campaign.
Marc New York is launching its first advertising campaign this fall. It is inspired by the extremely popular bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey. Dayana Mendoza, the 2008 Miss Universe, and former Scottish rugby player Thom Evans will be featured in the campaign.
First time Olympian, Paige Railey, is one talented 25-year-old. In addition to developing her sailing skills in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics, Railey is focusing on her other passion of styling. She has already posted 16 different outfits with items from Ralph Lauren and Nike on her Facebook page. We can’t wait to see what her Olympic uniform looks like! Good luck Paige!
In the latest issue of Newsweek, writer Joan Juliet Buck provides a blow-by-blow account of the 2011 controversy over Vogue’s “Power Issue” in March of that year. Buck wrote a piece profiling Syria’s “first lady,” Asma al-Assad. Once it became apparent that Bashar al-Assad was serving as a dictator, Vogue removed the article from their website two months later and eventually released a statement addressing it. Aside from the fact that Buck contributed four cover stories and wrote for the publication for dozens of years, Vogue did not renew her contract for 2012. Buck has now broken her silence about the debacle.
Taylor Swift isn’t only the choice for ShowStopper of the Week, she is the Teen’s Choice too! Swift took home the most Teen Choice Awards, collecting five, at the event on Sunday, July 22nd. Her honors included Choice Female Artist, Choice Female Country Artist, Choice Movie Voice, Choice Single by a Female Artist and Choice Country Song. Not only did the “sparks fly” for Swift that night, she has now earned 20 trophies overall, the most ever won by a female artist. Congrats Taylor! We❤ you!
Happy Thursday, Ladies!
In lieu of a story this week, I present you with a Dating Shannon-igans new component: matchmaking! Through the ShowStoppers blog, I will start setting readers up with eligible PBs. Beginning next week, the blog will feature one PB per month. I will carefully select this man based on a comprehensive overview: personality, humor, career and appearance. So far, so simple, yes?
This is where you come in. If you think you may be compatible with any of these truly wonderful men, write and send in a short blurb of why you think you’d be a great match. After assessing each reader’s analysis, I will set up a selected CW with the featured PB for a $10 date. While I will be involved in the initial stages of the setup, the PB will singlehandedly plan and execute the $10 date. Once you go on your date, all I ask is that you draft an anonymous article detailing your amazing (or not so amazing – just the truth) date. I will post your article so that other readers may learn from your successes and/or mistakes. Recognition or anonymity is entirely up to you. After you complete the aforementioned steps, it is on you to secure a second $20 and a third $30 date. As always, your questions are more than welcome!
To enter the $10 date matchmaking sweepstake (so to speak), e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include a brief paragraph delineating why you are the best CW for our PB and a photo (for my eyes only).
Until matchmaking week!
